台灣今年的軍費支出已超過6000億台幣，占GDP的2.5%，若要提高到5%，軍費支出將擴大到12000億台幣以上，達政府總支出的45%，也就是政府每支出一元，就有將近一半是用在軍費上，這絕對是台灣財政無法負擔的沉重壓力，甚至說台灣財政將要破產，亦不為過。
