中國與中國人

有些人受到不學無術之人的影響
以為「中國」的國家名稱
是因爲1912年「中華民國」成立
才有「中國」或「中國人」的稱呼
講這種話的人真的不學無術

公元前1038年
周成王五年
距今有3,062年之久
青銅器「何尊」出土文字
即有周武王「宅茲中國」的文字
原文是
「唯武王既克大邑商
則廷告于天曰
余其宅茲中國 自茲乂民」
這段文字很清楚說道
周武王滅亡商朝後祭告上天說
「我將統治中國 安定人民」
有人說
周武王所講的中國
不是講整個周王國的領土
只講河南中原ㄧ帶
尤其是只講
河南ㄧ帶的夏商兩朝的都城
因為另一件青銅器「利簋」
和《史記·殷本記》記載
周武王滅商經過鄭州（管）時
有意在伊河 洛河附近興建新首都
周成王五年
當時周成王年幼由周公攝政
周公和召公占卜
選定河南夏王朝故都附近
興建新都城「洛邑」
今稱「洛陽」
因此有人解釋
「宅茲」僅指「建造新都」
「宅茲中國」只是說
「在中國地區建造洛陽新都」而已
但這些說法佐證
至少「中國」之名
早已出現在周代以前
周朝初年僅指洛陽為中心的地區
但隨著這個「中國地區」的成長
「中國」便被用於指整個國家
《漢書》記載
冒頓單于稱「大漢」為「中國」
司馬遷撰《史記》多次提「中國」
有時指「中原地區」
有時指「秦漢整個國家」
這些歷史事實證實
儘管各代王朝有自己的「國號」
或「王朝名號」
但「中國」作為「國家之名」
漢朝以前早已普遍出現
跟「中華民國」無關
就如同「羅馬」原本是一座都城
後來擴張成一個大帝國
還是沿用「羅馬」為國家之名
再說「中國人」的稱呼
從漢朝《史記》到隋朝《隋書》
再從唐、宋、元、明、清的文獻
出現「中國人」的稱呼
多到不勝枚舉
也跟「中華民國」毫無關係
康熙皇帝更是經典
在與俄羅斯簽訂《尼布楚條約》時
用拉丁文自稱「中國皇帝」
Sinarum Imperatoris
不是「大清皇帝」
用滿文簽約不稱「大清子民」
而直接稱呼為「中國人」
Dulimbai Gurun i niyalma
總而言之
不管經過多少朝代
「中國」作為國家之名始終存在
「中國人」之名也早已存在
跟1911年武昌起義無關
跟1912年「中華民國」成立無關
所以「中國即祖國」的歷史
在《史記》時代即已出現
不是什麼晚近的新觀念
